Grammar Pronoun- Lesson Three- I Pronoun in English

In this grammar lesson, you learn about I pronoun in English and how to use it in your English conversation and writing. Just follow examples and write them down a few times to learn them very well. After finishing this lesson, you should work on its quiz.

I Pronoun with Examples

singular

subject object possessive adjective possessive pronoun reflexive pronoun

These pronouns are used for oneself.

subject = I

I am a teacher.
I teach English.

Note that “I” is always capitalized.

 

object = me

Two students are standing next to me.

 

possessive adjective = my

I work on my website every day.
In this picture, you can see my computer.

 

possessive pronoun = mine

Your feet are cold. Mine are too. (mine = my feet)
Your nose is cold. Mine is too. (mine = my nose)

A possessive pronoun is singular or plural depending on the thing or person to which it refers.

This thermometer shows the temperature.

 

reflexive pronoun = myself

I took a picture of myself.

 

When a preposition comes before a pronoun, use the objective form of the word: me.

This is between you and me. (not “you and I”)

Do you want to go with me?

He threw the ball at me.

It’s also okay to use “me” when “I” is the grammatically correct choice:

A: Who is it?
B: It’s me.

The grammatically correct thing to say in the example above is “It’s I,” but no one says that.
