Word of the Day: Scam
Use the word “scam” when a company or a person cheats or fools someone for money.
- The diet pills that Yolanda purchased turned out to be a scam.
- Don’t waste your money on lottery tickets. The lottery is a scam.
- It’s nothing but a scam.
- Dirk McMaster was involved in several scams and eventually went to jail for mail fraud.
- That guy is a scam artist.
- If someone promises you easy money or wants you to be involved in a get-rich-quick proposal, it’s most likely a scam.
- A scam alert went out to people who received an email requesting social security numbers.
- The FBI was in on the scam and arrested everyone who was involved. (in on the scam = to know that something is false or illegal)
