In the following examples, the pronoun “you” is singular:

subject = you

You study English.
Do you study French, too?

 

object = you

The teacher helped you.
Who called you last night?

 

possessive adjective = your

This is your jacket.
Your jacket is very nice.

possessive pronoun = yours

Is this jacket yours?
My jacket is blue. Yours is yellow.

 

reflexive pronoun = yourself

You can look at yourself in a mirror.

 

In the following examples, the pronoun “you” is plural:

subject = you

You are students.
Do you know each other?

 

object = you

The teacher helps you learn English.
The teacher gives assignments to you.

 

possessive adjective = your

I’m your teacher. (I work for all of you.)
Your English is going to improve!
Do you have your own computer?

 

possessive pronoun = yours

This is yours!

 

reflexive pronoun = yourself
