These pronouns are used for groups of people to whom you write or speak.

subject = they

They sent me this picture.

 

object = them

Someone took a picture of them.
Their teacher teaches them English.

 

possessive adjective = their

Their boss wants them to improve their English.

He’s their boss.

 

possessive pronoun = theirs

Is this classroom theirs?
Our classroom is big, but theirs is much bigger.

This is their classroom.

 

reflexive pronoun = themselves

They enjoyed themselves as they played in the snow.

Pay attention to the differences among these three words:

there their they’re

there: location / existence of something
their: possessive adjective
they’re: contraction for the words “they” and “are”

These words are all pronounced the same way, but their meanings are different.
