The adjective “outer” is used to describe an area that is on the outside of a location or a thing:
- The outer covering of a peach is soft and fuzzy.
- The outer part of the ear helps the inner part of the ear receive sound.
- Some people believe that aliens have visited our planet from outer space.
- The outer suburbs of Chicago extend into Wisconsin and Indiana.
- We attended a rock concert on the outer banks of the river. (The outer bank of a river is the high area away from the water.)
- People who live on the outer fringes of society may see the world from a unique perspective.
