Grammar Level 1- Lesson Eight- Questions Present Tense
In this seventh grammar lesson, you learn about Questions Present Tense in English and how to use it in your English conversation and writing. Just follow examples and write them down a few times to learn them very well. After finishing this lesson, you should work on its quiz.

Questions in the Present Simple Tense
To make a question in the present simple tense, use the helping verbs do or does. In the chart below, the main verb is “run.” For questions, the main verb remains in the simple form.

Examples of Questions Present Tense
Do you run to school?
Does she run to school?
Do students in your city run to school?
Present tense questions require the helping verb and the main verb–except when the main verb is “be.” (See Grammar Level 1 Lesson Three.) Note the helping verb, do or does, changes with the subject.
Here are some present tense questions for the verb “drive.”
Do I drive?
Do you drive?
Does he drive?
Does she drive?
Does it drive?
Do we drive?

do + subject + not + verb
Singular
Do I not drive?
Do you not drive?

don’t + subject + verb or doesn’t + subject + verb
(The doesn’t form is much more popular!)
