1- Light at the end of the tunnel = A sign that a difficult situation is ending or improving.
After months of hard work, she finally saw the light at the end of the tunnel when her project was approved.
2- Trains can’t climb hills easily = Some systems or people aren’t built for certain challenges.
You have to assign tasks based on capability. Trains can’t climb hills easily.
3- Off the rail = Behaving in an uncontrolled or abnormal way.
Ever since he lost his job, he’s been acting off the rail.
4- Railway line = A fixed or predetermined path.
Her career has followed a clear railway line ever since she graduated.
5- Stream/Express trains = Fast-moving progress or actions.
Once she got started, her ideas flowed like express trains, one after another.
6- A one-track mind = Thinking about only one subject or goal.
He has a one-track mind when it comes to making money.
7- Hit the buffers = To stop suddenly or fail to progress.
The new policy hit the buffers when it was rejected by the board.
8- Ran out of steam = Lost energy or enthusiasm.
The team ran out of steam halfway through the project.
9- Right off the rail = Completely out of control or off-course.
Their plans went right off the rail after the funding was cut.
10- Back on track = Returning to the correct course or progress.
After the delay, the team is finally back on track.
11- On the right track = Proceeding correctly or making good progress.
With these changes, we’re definitely on the right track.
12- She runs like an express train = She moves or works very fast and efficiently.
At work, she runs like an express train never slowing down.
