Word of the Day: Soap
We use soap for cleaning people and things. There are many different types of soap.
- What kind of soap do you use for bathing?
- Soap comes in the form of a bar, a dispenser, or a bottle.

- Shampoo is a type of soap used for washing hair.
- Dishwashing liquid is soap used for washing dishes.

The word “soapy” is an adjective:
- Dirty dishes can be soaked in soapy water.
- Soapy water creates soap suds.
- Soapy water that gets in your eyes stings.
Finally, a TV show that has a continuous storyline and entertains through melodrama is referred to as a soap opera. The reason for this label is because daytime radio and television drama were once heavily sponsored by companies that advertised their cleaning products, such as various soap products, to the people who watched these types of programs.
