Speaking About Dangers in English

Here is a list of 10 discussion questions with sample answers for practicing English speaking with your language partner.

  • What do you do when you feel someone might be following you? Explain.

If I felt like someone was following me, I would try to stay calm and assess the situation. I’d look around and try to see if there was anyone else nearby. If I felt really uneasy, I’d try to go to a crowded place or a place with a security guard. I’d also try to call a friend or family member and let them know what was happening. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.

  • If your life was in danger, who would you call and why?

If my life was in danger, I would call my parents first. They’re my biggest support system, and I know they’d do everything they could to help me. I’d also call my close friends for support and help. In an emergency, it’s important to have people you trust to rely on.

  • Have you tried doing anything dangerous that could risk your life? Explain.

I’ve never done anything that could risk my life intentionally. I’m not a risk-taker! I’m pretty cautious when it comes to things like that. Of course, there are always little risks in life, but I try to be aware of them and take precautions.

  • Why are there people who still live in a dangerous society? Explain.

People live in dangerous societies for many reasons. It could be due to poverty, lack of education, political instability, or natural disasters. Sometimes people don’t have the resources or opportunities to escape dangerous situations.  It’s important to remember that everyone’s circumstances are different, and we should always strive to help those in need.

  • What was the most dangerous thing that you have done? Explain.

The most dangerous thing I’ve done was probably climb a really tall tree when I was a kid. I got to the top, and it was scary looking down! But, I managed to climb down safely.  I’m glad I didn’t get hurt, because that could have been really dangerous.

  • Do you think there are dangers in your house? Explain.

There are definitely dangers in my house. For example, there are stairs that I have to be careful with, and there are sharp kitchen knives that I have to be cautious around. There’s also the risk of fires or accidents, so it’s important to be aware of these things and take precautions.

  • What do you do when you see someone in danger? Explain.

If I saw someone in danger, I would try to help them if it was safe to do so. I would assess the situation and see if there was anything I could do without putting myself in danger. If not, I would call for help. It’s important to act quickly and responsibly in emergency situations.

  • Can we stay away from danger? Explain.

Unfortunately, no. Life is full of risks, and some dangers are unavoidable. But, we can take steps to minimize our risk of harm. It’s important to be aware of our surroundings, make informed decisions, and take precautions.

  • Are you a person that worries about nothing or everything? Give an example of something that you worry (or don’t worry) about.

I’m not someone who worries about everything. I worry about things that are important to me, like the well-being of my family and friends, and the safety of my community. But, I don’t dwell on things that I can’t control. For example, I don’t worry about things like natural disasters or things that might happen in the future. I try to focus on the present moment and stay positive.

  • What dangers exist when you drive or when you fly? When you take a train?

There are always risks involved in transportation. When I drive, I need to be aware of traffic, other drivers, and pedestrians. I need to make sure I’m following the rules of the road and staying alert. When I fly, I worry about things like turbulence or technical problems. I also worry about things like lost luggage or delays. When I take the train, I worry about things like crowded cars or delays. It’s important to be aware of the potential dangers of any form of transportation.
