Conversation Questions about College
1- Can you draw pictures well? Explain?
I can draw a little, but I wouldn’t say I’m great at it. I enjoy sketching just for fun or to relax. I’m better with abstract doodles than realistic drawing. Art Apps help me experiment more freely.
2- What famous painters do you know? What are they famous for?
I know Leonardo da Vinci, who painted the Mona Lisa, and Vincent van Gogh, famous for The Starry Night. Pablo Picasso is another big name known for creating Cubism. Each of them brought something totally unique to the art world.
3- Who is the most famous artist in your country? What kind of art does he do?
In Malaysia, Lat (Datuk Mohammad Nor Khalid) is quite well-known. He’s a cartoonist, not a painter, but his comics capture Malaysian life in a really heartfelt and humorous way. His art tells stories that many locals relate to.
4- What is art? How would you define art in your own words?
To me, art is any creative expression that makes people feel or think. It could be a painting, a song, or even a beautifully written story. Art doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to connect. It’s a universal language.
5- Do you think graffiti is art? Why or why not?
Yes, I do think graffiti is art, especially when it’s used to express identity, emotion, or social messages. It can turn blank walls into powerful visuals. But I also think context matters. It should be respectful of public spaces.
6- Do you think music and dancing are forms of art? What ways do they express emotions or stories?
Absolutely. Both music and dance can express my feelings that words can’t. A melody can make me feel joyful or nostalgic, and dance can tell a story through movement. They’re powerful, emotional, and very creative forms of art.
7- Do you know any art galleries? Are there any in the place where you live?
Yes, there are a few in Kuala Lumpur like the National Art Gallery and Ilham Gallery. They showcase modern and traditional Malaysian art. I enjoy visiting them when I have the chance. It’s inspiring to see how people express themselves visually.
8- Do you like paintings? Explain what elements attract your attention.
Yes, especially ones with bold colors or interesting textures. I’m drawn to pieces that have stories or emotions behind them. Sometimes, abstract art really grabs my attention because it leaves room for interpretation.
9- What things do you like to photograph? Give some examples.
I like photographing nature, especially trees, flowers, and skies during sunset. Street scenes and little everyday moments also catch my eye. Sometimes I also take close-ups of textures like leaves or old buildings.
10- Do you have a favorite painting? If so, what is it?
Yes, I really like Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. The swirling skies and bold brushstrokes feel alive and emotional. It’s calming but also full of movement, like a dream caught on canvas.
