Word of the Day: Quite
The word “quite” is similar to “very” and “really.” It’s an adverb and it’s usually used with adjectives:
She’s quite good at tennis.
In the sentence above, “quite” indicates how good she is at tennis. The word “quite” modifies the word “good.”
Here are some more examples:
- It’s going to be quite cold today.
- Quite a few people were at the event.
- This book is quite interesting.
- That’s quite a good answer to the question.
- That’s not quite what I wanted.
