Word of the Day: Guest
A person who is invited to a special occasion or to a person’s house is referred to as a guest.
- There were over 50 guests at their house.
- The people who threw the party mingled among their guests.
- A guest who got sick had to leave early.
- All of the guests had a good time.
The word “guest” is also used for people who stay at hotels, customers at a business, and people who appear on television programs.
- Hotel guests received a complimentary breakfast. (Breakfast was included in the cost of the room.)
- A guest at the hotel left a twenty-dollar tip for the housekeeping staff.
- Jay Leno had an interesting guest on his TV show last night.
