Word of the Day: Claim
A claim is a statement. Some people who make claims are lying while others are telling the truth, so a claim can be true or false.
- The witness claimed that the defendant in the trial was driving a large black car.
- The manufacturer of this product claims that it is waterproof, but it isn’t.
- Ninety-seven percent of scientists claim that global warming is caused by human activity.
