  • Have you seen many Hollywood movies? Give some examples of Hollywood movies you have seen and your opinion of them.

I’ve definitely seen a bunch of Hollywood movies! Some of my favorites are 1) The Lord of the Rings trilogy: I love the epic fantasy world and the incredible story. It’s just pure magic! 2) The Shawshank Redemption: Such a powerful and inspiring story about hope and resilience. It really stays with you long after you’ve watched it. 3) Inception: I’m fascinated by Christopher Nolan’s mind-bending storytelling. This movie definitely makes you think! 4) The Lion King: Who doesn’t love a good Disney movie? This one is a classic, full of heartwarming moments and catchy songs.

 

  • Do you like Hollywood movies? Why or why not?

I enjoy watching Hollywood movies. They often feature stunning visuals, impressive special effects, and intriguing stories. I also like how they sometimes showcase different cultures and perspectives, even though they’re usually made in the US.

 

  • What kind of information about the United States have you learned by watching Hollywood movies? Explain.

Well, Hollywood movies have definitely given me a glimpse into American culture, although it’s not always an accurate reflection. For example, I’ve learned about their everyday life, their values, and their sense of humor. I’ve also learned about their history and their political system, even though it’s often portrayed through a dramatic and simplified lens.

 

  • Do you think that movies from different countries can teach us about other cultures? Give some examples to support your answer.

Absolutely! Movies can be amazing windows into other cultures. For example, I’ve watched Japanese anime and Korean dramas that have helped me understand their art, music, and storytelling traditions.  I’ve also watched Indian films that have given me a deeper appreciation for their vibrant colors, beautiful music, and diverse perspectives.

 

  • What kinds of movies are popular in your country?

In Iran, we have a thriving film industry. We love movies that explore themes of love, family, social issues, and historical events.  We also have a strong tradition of comedies and dramas. There’s a really diverse range of movies made here, and people have different tastes!

 

  • Would you like to watch foreign movies with subtitles? Why or Why not? 

Definitely! I love exploring different cultures through movies. Subtitles are no problem for me, and they actually enhance the viewing experience. It allows me to appreciate the nuances of the original language and to immerse myself fully in the story.

 

  • Do you like to watch very old movies like silent films? Why or Why not?

I’ve seen a few silent films, and I actually find them fascinating! They’re so different from the movies we watch today. The acting is often very expressive, and the stories are timeless. It’s incredible to think about how they were able to tell such compelling stories without sound.

 

  • Do you prefer to read Harry Potter books or watch their movies? Or both? Explain.

I love both the Harry Potter books and movies! They’re both magical in their own way. I love the richness and detail of the books, but the movies bring the characters and the world to life in a way that’s truly immersive. I think they complement each other beautifully.

 

  • As an adult, do you still watch cartoons? Why or Why not? 

Yes! Cartoons are still fun! I think they can be very creative and thought-provoking, especially the animated films that are made for adults. There’s a certain charm to the art style and the whimsical storytelling. Plus, they’re a great way to relax and escape from reality for a while.

 

  • Is the movie industry in your country strong? Why or why not?

Iran has a strong movie industry, and we’re known for producing high-quality films that are recognized internationally.  We have talented filmmakers, actors, and actresses, and we have a rich history of storytelling. Our films often reflect our culture, our values, and our struggles.
