Word of the Day: Pour
When a liquid or a solid goes from a container to some intended area or another container, you can use the word “pour.”
- He’s pouring a chemical into a flask.
- If you pour oil into your engine, it’s a good idea to use a funnel.
- She’s pouring water into a bowl.
- You pour cereal into a bowl.
- Some people pour mulch onto their gardens.
- It’s pouring rain. (When it rains heavily, you can use the word “pour.”)
*Notice that the pronunciation of “pour” is the same as the pronunciation for the adjective “poor.”
