used to
“Used to” describes activities in the past. Something was once true, but now the situation is different. Following “used to,” the main verb is in the simple form:
“used to ” فعالیت های گذشته رو توصیف می کنه. زمانی چیزی درست بوده، اما الان شرایطش متفاوت شده. به دنبال “used to”، فعل اصلی به شکل ساده میاد:
Subject + used to + _____________ (main verb)
She used to work as a waitress, but now she’s working as a photographer.
او قبلا به عنوان پیشخدمت کار می کرده، اما حالا به عنوان عکاس کار می کنه.
Tom used to go out with Donna.
تام با دونا بیرون می رفته.
Now he’s going out with Katy.
حالا او با کیتی بیرون می روه.
He used to be thin. Now he has a potbelly.
او قبلاً لاغر بوده. حالا او شکم داره.
used to be = was / were
Her hair used to be green, and then she changed it to purple. woman with purple hair
موهایش قبلا سبز بوده و بعد اونو به بنفش تغییر داد. زنی با موهای بنفش
He used to go bowling at least two or three times a week, but when he lost his job he couldn’t afford to go out as often. Now he goes bowling just once or twice a month.
او حداقل دو یا سه بار در هفته به بولینگ می رفت، اما از زمانی که کارش رو از دست داده، نمیتونه به این اندازه بیرون بره. حالا فقط یک یا دو بار در ماه به بولینگ می روه.
I used to take my kids to the park every day. Now they’re too old to go.
من هر روز بچه هامو به پارک می بردم. حالا برای رفتن خیلی بزرگ شدن.
Soldiers used to use knives, swords, and shields when fighting. Now they use guns.
سربازان هنگام جنگ از چاقو، شمشیر و سپر استفاده می کردن. حالا از تفنگ استفاده می کنن.
She never used to wear a helmet when she rode her bike, but after getting into an accident, she wears one all the time.
او هیچ وقت موقع دوچرخه سواری از کلاه ایمنی استفاده نمی کرد، اما بعد از تصادف، همیشه از کلاه ایمنی استفاده می کنه.
Use “never” or “didn’t” to make “used to” negative. “Never” sounds a little better.
از «never» یا «didn’t» برای منفی کردن « used to» استفاده کنین. “naver” کمی بهتر به نظر می رسه.
He never used to have to travel on business, but now he’s away from home at least one or two weeks per month.
او هیچ وقت مجبور نبود برای کاری سفر کنه، اما حالا حداقل یک یا دو هفته در ماه از خونه دوره.
He didn’t used to travel on business so often, but now he does.
اون قبلاً خیلی برای تجارت سفر نمی کرد، اما حالا می کنه.
