(be) used to
“(be) used to” indicates that someone has adapted to a new situation. The situation was difficult or strange or awkward in some way, but then everything was okay. You can also use the verb “get” in place of the verb “be” — get used to.
“(be) used to” نشون می ده که شخصی با یک موقعیت جدید سازگار شده. شرایط سخت یا عجیب یا به نوعی ناجور، اما بعد همه چیز خوب بود. همچنین می توانید از فعل “get” به جای فعل “be” استفاده کنید.
Tom is used to sleeping on the plane when he takes a long flight.
تام به خوابیدن در هواپیما زمانی که پرواز طولانی داره عادت داره.
Notice that the verb “be” changes depending on the subject: I am used to…, You are used to…., He is used to…, We are used to….
توجه داشته باشید که فعل “be” بسته به فاعل تغییر می کنه: من عادت دارم به…، شما عادت دارید به….، او عادت دارد به…، ما عادت داریم به….
Jeff is used to his new skateboard.
جف به اسکیت بورد جدیدش عادت کرده.
After “be used to,” you can use a gerund or a noun. The example above uses a noun.
بعد از “be used to”، می تونید از یک اسم مصدر یا یک اسم استفاده کنین. مثال بالا از یک اسم استفاده می کنه.
Jeff is used to riding on a skateboard.
جف به اسکیت سواری عادت داره.
This example uses a gerund after “be used to.”
این مثال بعد از “be used to” از یک اسم مصدر استفاده می کنه.
He’s not used to being without his mother. That’s why he’s crying.
او به بودن بدون مادرش عادت نداره. برای همین گریه می کنه.
To make “be used to” negative, add “not” to the verb “be.”
برای منفی کردن “be used to”، “not” را به فعل “be” اضافه کنید.
She’s used to meeting people who think she was born in another country just because she looks Asian. In fact, she was born in Los Angeles.
او عادت داره با افرادی ملاقات کنه که فکر می کنن او در کشور دیگری به دنیا آمده، فقط به این دلیل که آسیایی به نظر می رسه. در واقع او در لس آنجلس به دنیا آمده.
He’s used to staying out all night.
او عادت داره تمام شبو بیرون بمونه.
He wasn’t used to people calling him “doctor” at first, but now he hears it every day.
او اولا عادت نداشت که مردم اونو «دکتر» خطاب کنن، اما حالا هر روز اونو می‌شنوه.
She’s used to saying grace before she eats.
او عادت دارد قبل از غذا خوردن، تشکر کنه.
He’s getting used to working at a desk in a busy office. At first he hated it, but now it’s okay.
اون به کار کردن پشت میز در یک دفتر شلوغ عادت کرده. اول ازش متنفر بود، اما حالا براش اشکالی نداره.
Note: You can use “get” in place of “be.”
توجه: می‌تونید از «get» به جای «be» استفاده کنین.
He wasn’t used to being in prison at first, but he got used to it after living there for a few years.
اون اولا به زندان بودن عادت نداشت، اما پس از چند سال زندگی در آنجا به اون عادت کرد.
She’s very rich. She’s used to going to parties and having other people do work for her.
اون بسیار ثروتمنده. اون عادت داره به مهمانی ها بره و افراد دیگه برای او کار کنن.
They’re used to living in a cold state like Iowa. In fact, they love it!
اونها به زندگی در یک ایالت سرد مانند آیووا عادت کردند. در واقع، اونها اونجا رو دوست دارند!
