سوالات مکالمه درباره غذای سالم

1- What does “healthy food” mean to you? How do you define it in your daily meals?

Healthy food, to me, means meals that are balanced, rich in nutrients, low in processed ingredients, and kind to my energy levels. I try to include a mix of veggies, protein, and whole grains in my daily meals. It’s not about being strict but about making better choices consistently. I also try to reduce added sugars and limit fried or greasy food. A healthy plate feels good and fuels me well.

2- Do you think it’s easy or hard to eat healthy these days? Explain.

Eating healthy these days is a bit of both easy and hard. It’s easy because we have so much access to information and healthier food options. But it’s also hard because fast food and processed snacks are everywhere and often cheaper or more convenient. I think it comes down to planning ahead and being intentional. Without that, it’s easy to slip into less healthy patterns.

3- How often do you cook your own meals? What influences your decision to cook vs eat out?

I cook my own meals around 2 to 3 times a week. The main factor that influences me is time, if I’m tired or busy, I’m more likely to order out. But when I cook, I feel better physically and mentally. Plus, I get to control the ingredients, which helps me stay on track with healthy eating. Budget also plays a role eating out adds up fast.

4- What are your favorite healthy snacks? Why do you like them?

My favorite healthy snacks are yogurt with honey, roasted nuts, and sliced apples with peanut butter. They’re satisfying without being too heavy, and they give me steady energy. I like snacks that are easy to prepare but still feel like a treat. The crunch from apples and the creaminess of peanut butter? Perfect combo. It keeps me away from chips or cookies.

5- Have your eating habits changed over the years? How and what caused those changes?

My eating habits have definitely changed over the years. I used to skip meals or eat mostly carbs without thinking twice. Now I pay more attention to protein and fiber, and I eat more mindfully. Part of it was learning more about nutrition, but also just noticing how different foods affect my energy and mood. It’s been a gradual shift, not overnight.

6- What’s one healthy food you didn’t like before but enjoy now? Can you explain?

One healthy food I didn’t like before but enjoy now is broccoli. I used to find it boring and bland, but that was before I learned to roast it with a bit of olive oil, garlic, and lemon. Now it’s a go-to side dish for me. It’s funny how preparation makes such a big difference in how we enjoy food. Taste definitely evolved over time.

7- Do you read nutrition labels when buying groceries? How does the information influence your purchase?

Yes, I read nutrition labels quite often when I shop. I check for sugar, sodium, and ingredient lists if something has too many unfamiliar additives, I usually skip it. It’s not about perfection, but being aware helps me make better choices. I’ve learned to look past marketing buzzwords like “natural” or “low-fat.” The real info is always in the fine print.

8- How does your culture influence your healthy food choices? Can you give examples of traditional foods you consider healthy?

My culture plays a big role in what I consider healthy. For example, I love traditional dishes like rasam or idli, which are light, nourishing, and flavorful. They’re naturally low in fat and full of spices that aid digestion. Even coconut-based dishes, when prepared in moderation, can be part of a healthy diet. It’s all about balance and cooking methods.

9- Do you think organic food is worth the price? Why or why not?

I think organic food is worth it in some cases, especially for items like berries or leafy greens that are more exposed to pesticides. But I don’t think everything needs to be organic—it’s not always financially realistic. I try to buy organic when I can, but I also focus more on whole foods over packaged ones. Fresh and minimally processed wins either way.

10- How do you stay motivated to eat healthy regularly? What strategies help you stay consistent?

To stay motivated, I remind myself how much better I feel when I eat well. Planning meals ahead of time really helps, as does keeping healthy snacks around so I’m not tempted. I also like following food accounts for recipe ideas, it keeps things interesting. I don’t aim for perfection, just progress. Having a flexible approach makes it sustainable.
