- What are the differences between having same and opposite gender friends in your culture? Explain.
You know, it’s true that in Iran, social interactions between men and women are often more separated. This is influenced by cultural and religious beliefs. It’s not uncommon to have close friendships with people of the same gender. I have a lot of amazing girlfriends, and we do everything together—go shopping, study, share secrets, have fun at parties, and even just hang out at home and talk for hours! But, having close friendships with people of the opposite gender is not as common. It’s not forbidden, but it’s often seen as more difficult to maintain because of the social boundaries. However, I have some really good guy friends. We share common interests, like video games, and sometimes go to events together.
- Can you describe one of your closest friends?
My closest friend is called Sara. We met in high school, and we’ve been inseparable ever since. She’s super funny, always knows how to make me laugh, and she’s incredibly supportive. She’s also a fantastic listener—I can tell her anything, and she always knows how to make me feel better when I’m down. We share a love for books, art, and all things creative. We often spend weekends together, going to museums, art exhibitions, or just relaxing at home and chatting.
- Do you have any childhood friendships that are still strong today? Tell us about them.
Yes, I have a few childhood friends who I’m still close to. One of them is called Reza. We grew up together in the same neighborhood. We used to spend hours playing in the streets, riding our bikes, and getting into all sorts of mischief! Even though we’ve both moved away and have our own lives now, we still make an effort to stay in touch and meet up whenever possible.
- Do you have any long distance friends? How do you keep in touch with your long-distance friends? How often do you see your long-distance friends?
I have a couple of close friends who live abroad now. It’s hard being apart, but we make it work! We talk on the phone regularly, and we love sending each other voice messages, photos, and videos. I also use social media to keep up with their lives. We try to visit each other at least once a year. Sometimes, it’s just a quick trip for a few days, and other times it’s a longer vacation. But even those short visits mean so much!
- Do you make friends easily? Why or why not?
I think I make friends pretty easily. I’m a very friendly person, and I love meeting new people. I’m always open to trying new things and exploring different interests. Being involved in different clubs and activities helps me meet people who share my passions.
- Has a friend ever let you down? Explain.
Of course, I’ve had my share of disappointments in friendships. One time, a friend broke a promise to me, and it really hurt. It took time to understand what happened and why, and to forgive them. Sometimes, people make mistakes, and it’s important to remember that friendships are about forgiveness and understanding.
- Have you made any friends over the Internet? How?
Yes, I’ve made friends online! I met a few people through online forums and social media groups dedicated to topics I’m interested in, like photography and coding. It’s amazing how you can connect with people from all over the world who share your passions. It’s a great way to expand your social circle and learn from others.
- How do you maintain a good friendship? Explain.
The key to maintaining a good friendship is communication, respect, and being there for each other. It’s about being open and honest, sharing your thoughts and feelings, and being a good listener. It’s about supporting each other through thick and thin, celebrating victories, and comforting each other in difficult times. It’s about making time for each other, even when life gets busy.
- What do you usually do with your friends? Explain.
I love spending time with my friends. We do everything together, from going to the cinema and having dinner at our favorite restaurants to going on weekend trips and exploring new places. We enjoy sharing stories, talking about our lives, and just having fun together. Sometimes, we just chill at home, watch movies, or play board games. I’m lucky to have such amazing friends in my life!
- What factors may result in the breakdown of a good friendship? Explain.
Unfortunately, sometimes friendships come to an end. There are many reasons why this might happen, such as misunderstandings, betrayal, different values, or simply growing apart. Sometimes, friendships simply run their course. It’s important to accept that change is part of life and to cherish the memories of the good times. Even though it hurts to lose a friend, it’s important to remember that you are still loved and valued by the people who truly care about you.
